The number of higher education options has increased over the years and given people the opportunity to broaden their horizons. Earning a paycheck while you learn a trade is one of the most lucrative ways to develop a career for yourself today. Compared to the expensive and time-consuming process of a 2- or 4-year college degree, apprenticeship programs allow you to see the fruits of your labor immediately as you get paid to learn a skill, offering a systematic approach to training that meets industry standards.
How does it work? Apprenticeship programs are set up to offer a combination of on-the-job training and classroom instruction from trade professionals in the industry. Apprentices receive an education that allows them to learn both hypothetical and practical aspects of the job through these dual-method training programs and a paycheck!
At Custom Aire, we have a four-year, in-house Sheet Metal Apprenticeship program. During these four years, apprentices work with a team of highly skilled professionals to practice hands-on training and classroom learning which utilizes the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) curriculum. Meanwhile, they’re earning a paycheck for their work and training, with structured increases in wages for gaining higher-level skills.
Once the course is completed, apprentices are awarded their Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship and can begin a career progression towards a Journeyman position.
Our company believes in investing in our employees and helping them develop their professional skills. Providing career advancement opportunities, including the awards of nationally recognized industry credentials, is a big part of this, and we’re proud to offer our apprenticeship program to those seeking alternatives to traditional education avenues.
